Azerbaijan's Ministry of Energy is developing a 100-kW pilot floating solar project on the Boyuk Shor Lake on Absheron Peninsula, Trend News Agency reported on Saturday, citing Zaur Mammadov, who heads the ministry's office.

Тhe Asian Development Bank is providing financial and technical support for the project, which includes knowledge and technical support exchange on floating solar development.

In addition, business models will be established to encourage private companies to take part in the solar power sector and boost national capacity in solar power through training, Mammadov was quoted as saying.

The ministry is currently holding tenders and after it selects the relevant companies installation of the floating solar system will begin, Mammadov told Trend.
