Australia puts green tick on 300-MW solar project in Queensland
Sep 20, 2024 6:04 CESTSep 18, 2014 - Azerbaijan plans to invest in geothermal and other green power projects in Iran, supporting its efforts to expand its renewable energy capacity to up to 1 GW, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) said yesterday.
The announcement was made on September 17 by the director of the State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources of Azerbaijan, Akim Badalov, during a meeting in Tehran with Iran's Deputy Energy Minister, Houshang Falahatian, IRNA reported. They did not specify the exact amount of the investment.
Azerbaijan is mostly interested in the Irani geothermal power generation segment, the report says. The country’s representatives will be given access to all the data they need from existing geothermal and wind power generation schemes in Iran.
The two countries also wish to cooperate to restore the almost completely dried out Lake Urmia. The condition of both the Caspian sea and the lake are of great significance for both Iran and Azerbaijan, Falahatian was cited as saying.
