Baden-Wuerttemberg nominates SMA Solar founder as EnBW supervisor

(ADPnews) - Jun 27, 2011 - The government of Baden-Wuerttemberg nominated the founder of SMA Solar Technology (ETR:S92), Guenther Cramer, as a supervisory board member of utility EnBW (ETR:EBK).

Cramer is also the current supervisory board chairman of SMA Solar, a German inverter manufacturer for the photovoltaic (PV) power sector.

As a greentech manager, Cramer possesses the expertise necessary for turning EnBW into a modern energy supplier that uses no nuclear power, said Nils Schmid, the economy and finance minister of Baden-Wuerttemberg. Cramer has been working for more than 30 years on the development of renewable energy in Germany. His knowledge of decentralised energy generation makes him particularly suitable for the supervisory board position at EnBW, Schmid added.

Cramer also acts as president of the German Solar Industry Association (BSW-Solar).

The state of Baden-Wuerttemberg has been a major shareholder of EnBW since this February, when it bought a 45.01% stake from Electricite de France (EPA:EDF).
