Saudi Arabia, Bahrain explore 2 GW solar project - report
Aug 30, 2024 12:04 CESTAug 6, 2012 - US solar power system provider Petra Solar Inc, the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) and state-owned Bahrain Petroleum Co (Bapco) have agreed to establish a 5-MW distributed smart solar project in Bahrain.
The project will combines solar technology and smart grid technology supplied by Petra Solar and will power the municipality of Awali, the University of Bahrain and other areas in the kingdom, Bahrain's public investment agency Economic Development Board (EDB) said in a statement on Sunday. The project will also provide research and development opportunities for universities.
EDB said it had started talks on the project with Petra Solar in 2010. The agency had also participated in the committee that had developed the project.
