Bangladesh seeks consultants for 100-MW solar project Solar panels by iamme ubeyou.

The government of Bangladesh is seeking consultants for the feasibility study related to a 100-MW solar project in the Patuakhali district of south-central Bangladesh.

The Request for Expressions of Interest was released by the Ministry of Energy, Power and Mineral Resources this week and submissions will be accepted by June 5, 2025.

The selected consulting firm will be tasked with carrying out a detailed feasibility study for the photovoltaic (PV) project, and will also conduct an initial environmental review and an environmental and social impact assessment study. Additionally, it will complete a route survey, devise a land acquisition plan and resettlement action plan for a 132-kV transmission line to connect the plant to the nearest grid substation.

The proposed solar farm will be installed in the village of Kalapara.

Bangladesh, which is still heavily reliant on fossil fuel imports, aims to produce 15% of electricity from renewables by 2030, 40% by 2041 and 100% by 2050. According to data by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the country had 801 MW of installed renewable energy capacity at end-2022. Its goal is to reach 4.1 GW of renewable power generation capacity in operation by 2030.
