World set to install 593 GW of new solar in 2024 - Ember
Sep 19, 2024 13:28 CESTSep 19, 2013 - German renewable energy association BEE posted yesterday the results of a new survey showing 93% of Germans support renewable power expansion and 73% of them disapprove the abolition of compensations for green energy.
The survey was conducted under the BEE's initiative Renewable Energy Transition Now by the opinion research institute TNS Emnid, which interviewed around 1,000 Germans.
The poll shows over two thirds of the population think renewables provide secure future, climate conservation and independence of fossil fuels imports.
In addition, 56% of Germans would support the renewables expansion through the surcharge to their electricity bills but 47% think the expansion costs must be distributed equally to all electricity consumers.
Half of the polled think the proposed increase of the surcharge to EUR 0.06 per kWh from the current EUR 0.05 is fair and 42% consider it as too high.
