The government of Bermuda last week issued an open call to pre-qualify companies seeking to take part in the tender for the 6-MW first phase of an up to 18-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project.

The tender process is expected to start during the autumn, according to a statement from the government.

The solar power facility will be constructed on the government-owned peninsula known as the “Finger”, adjacent to the LF Wade International Airport. It will be developed in two phases, one of 6 MW and one of 10 MW to 12 MW.

In order to be eligible to participate in the tender process, each bidder should be experienced in installing not less than 10 MW of cumulative solar capacity and at least one 3-MW-plus solar park on a single site anywhere in the world. Bidders should also commit to hire a local company as the operations and maintenance (O&M) contractor for the life of the project.
