Elawan bags Google PPA for 37-MW solar project in Texas
Sep 19, 2024 13:49 CESTDanish renewable energy company Better Energy has signed a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies to supply the pharmaceutical manufacturer with 40 GWh of renewable energy a year, according to an announcement today.
The power that Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies will offtake will cover the entire electricity consumption at its biopharmaceutical manufacturing site in Hillerod, Denmark, including new operations to be commissioned this year.

The PPA will commence in July 2025. It supports the construction of a new solar park near Vedde in Soro municipality, 80 km (50 miles) away from Hillerod. The solar power plant, slated for completion at the end of 2024, is expected to have a capacity of 107 MWp and produce 110 GWh of green electricity a year.
Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies is a contract manufacturer of biologics, vaccines and advanced therapies, part of Japanese conglomerate Fujifilm Holdings Corp (TYO:4901). The deal aligns with the company’s climate strategy, Partners for the Planet.
“When the Vedde solar park and the Blevins (Texas) Solar Project previously announced by Fujifilm Holdings America Corporation come online, all our seven manufacturing sites globally will be sourcing electricity generated by renewable energy,” said Lars Petersen, president and CEO at Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies.
