Bangladesh Export Import Co Ltd (DSE:BEXIMCO), or Beximco Ltd, announced on Thursday the awarding of a number of contracts for the construction of a 280-MWp solar power station in Bangladesh.

Beximco estimates the total value of the contracts at BDT 17 billion (USD 198.4m/EUR 171m). The particular project will be executed at Sundarganj, Gaibandha District in the Rangpur Division.

The company noted it is also developing one other solar project that will bring its total solar power generating capacity to 325 MWp. Both plants are seen to be commissioned by mid-2022.

A consortium consisting of Rays Power Infra Pvt Ltd and Zetwerk Manufacturing Businesses Pvt Ltd has won the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and operation and maintenance (O&M) jobs for the main plant, while LONGi Solar Technology Co Ltd will be the supplier of solar modules.

At the same time, ABB Ltd (SWX:ABBN) has received the contract that covers the switchyard and substation, including control solutions, while Confidence Infrastructure Ltd was tasked with building the required transmission line from Sundarganj, Gaibandha to Rangpur Grid Substation, Rangpur.
