Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTBolivia's government has switched on the 60-MW Uyuni Photovoltaic (PV) Plant, the largest of its kind in the country.
The PV plant was built by the EMIAS-ELECNOR Consortium, a joint venture between local firm EMIAS and Spanish power company Elecnor SA (BME:ENO). It required an investment of more than USD 73 million (EUR 63m), the Ministry of Labor announced on Saturday.
The Uyuni project was executed as part of Bolivia's Economic and Social Development Plan 2016-2020 framework as well as the 2025 Agenda, which establishes the implementation of PV plants for the generation of alternative energies.
Last year, the country's energy demand reached 1,500 MW and its generation amounted to 2,100 MW. President Evo Morales stated that that due to its excess output, Bolivia will soon export energy.
