Jordan Green agrees land deal for solar-powered green ammonia hub
Sep 20, 2024 5:52 CESTBolivia's National Electricity Company (ENDE) handed out to the Spanish-Bolivian consortium Emias-Elecnor a notice to proceed (NTP) with а 5.2 MW solar project in Tarija department.
Located in the Yunchara region, the photovoltaic (PV) scheme represents an investment of almost USD 8 million (EUR 7.4m), the Ministry of of Hydrocarbons and Energy announced on Monday.
Comprised of 20,000 solar panels, the project will cover an area of 15 hectares (37 acres) and have the capability to offset 6,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year. A contract for the output has been signed with Bolivia's Guaracachi National Electricity Company, or Ende Guaracachi.
It would take about 180 days to complete the plant. It is expected to be up and running on April 15, 2017, the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy, Luis Sanchez, said.
Currently, Tarija department has a total generation capacity of 179 MW while its internal demand is of 54 MW, the government noted.
