Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTBolivia's Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy, Luis Alberto Sanchez, said on Sunday that the country will reach 545 MW of renewable power generation by 2020.
Through Bolivia's National Electricity Company (ENDE), the ministry is also expected to invest around USD 1.05 billion (EUR 941m) in renewable energy by the same year.
According to government estimates, the country will add around 486 MW in the upcoming years to achieve its goal, of which 173 MW corresponds to solar power capacity, the ministry noted in its press release. Wind should follow next with 148 MW, geothermal will be third with 55 MW and biomass comes last with 40 MW. In all, renewables are expected to represent 12% of the country's electrical generation.
Currently, Bolivia has the 5-MW Cobija solar plant, the 27-MW Qollpana wind park and a further 18 green energy projects under development, the government highlighted.
