Dutch dredging and offshore contractor Boskalis has secured “large” contracts to transport and install the export and array cables for the 1.5-GW Baltica 2 offshore wind farm in the Polish section of the Baltic Sea.

Two deals were awarded to the company by Polish utility PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (WSE:PGE) and Denmark’s Ørsted A/S (CPH:ORSTED). According to its statement on Tuesday, the contracts have a combined value that is “considered to be large,” referring to orders valued at over EUR 300 million (USD 322.5m).

The scope of work includes the transportation and installation of 107 array cables with a length of over 150 km, plus four 275 kV export cables totalling close to 300 km. Boskalis is also tasked with conducting seabed preparation activities such as seabed levelling, pre-trenching and the removal of boulders.

Boskalis said it will deploy two cable-laying vessels, a construction support vessel, a subsea rock installation vessel and a trailing suction hopper dredger. It expects preparatory works to begin in 2025, with transport and installation activities scheduled to commence in 2027.

Baltica 2 will be installed as part of the Baltica offshore wind project around 40 km off Poland's northern coast, between Leba and Ustka.
