SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), June 22 (SeeNews) – Bosnia's has to consider legislative changes in order to reduce taxation and create a better regulatory framework for imports of new electric cars, the country's foreign trade minister said.

"Dramatic changes will take place on the market of electric cars over the next five to ten years, and we have to follow these trends", Mirko Sarovic said in a statement earlier this week.

"Nearly a million electric cars were sold in the world last year, and this number doubles from year to year, but in our country there are only 18 such registered cars, which is a big enough warning."

Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the few countries in Europe that does not offer any incentives for electric car imports. The country is also ahead of the rest of Europe in terms of the number of fatalities caused air pollution, with 30% of pollution estimated to come from car exhaust systems, Sarovic said.

Public debates on possible legislative changes will take place in the country shortly, he added.
