Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTBosnia and Herzegovina plans to introduce CO2 emissions pricing and trading system by the beginning of 2026, a foreign ministry official said.
Bosnia's foreign ministry, together with the Energy Community Secretariat, has already prepared a draft roadmap for the introduction of the carbon pricing and trading model, Branka Knezevic,
head of department for primary energy and policy with the foreign ministry told the Trebinje Energy Summit, as seen in a Youtube video.
The foreign ministry has asked the Energy Community Secretariat and the World Bank for technical assistance in the preparation of the model, Knezevic added.
By introducing the mechanism, Bosnia intends to avoid EU's planned Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), i.e. paying carbon border tax, Knezevic added.
The CBAM is a proposed tariff on carbon intensive products imported by the EU, planned to take effect in 2026.
