Elektroprivreda HZHB, a state-owned power utility in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has been granted approval to build a 150-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) park in its home country.

The permit, recently awarded by the government of the Federation, covers a scheme to be located in the Balkan country’s Stolac municipality, within the Hodovo Economic and Business Zone. It was issued several weeks after the economy ministry of Bosnia's Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, one of the 10 cantons in the Federation, awarded a 30-year concession contract for the project to Elektroprivreda HZHB.

The project, dubbed EPHZHB 1, will require some BAM 180 million (USD 98.9m/EUR 92m) in investments, according to local media reports.

Once up and running, the proposed solar farm will be capable of generating around 263 GWh of electricity annually.

The Federation is one of two autonomous entities that make up Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Serb Republic.
