SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), September 22 (SeeNews) – Bosnian oil refinery Rafinerija Nafte Brod [BANJ:RNAF-R-A] said on Tuesday it has launched the construction of a solar power plant worth some 2 million marka ($1.2 million/1.0 million euro) with an installed capacity of 1 MW.

The plant is expected to generate at least 1,050 MWh of electricity annually, as its output will go to cover the refinery's own needs, it said in a press release.

The refinery plans to save up to 100,000 marka on electricity per year, it added.

The company will install a total of 2,724 solar panels with a capacity of 350 kW each.

The construction of the solar power plant should be completed by the end of the year.

Rafinerija Nafte, based in Brod in the northwestern part of Bosnia’s Serb Republic, is majority-owned by Russia's NeftegasInCor.

The Serb Republic is one of the two autonomous parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Muslim-Croat Federation.
