Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske (ERS), the power utility of Bosnia's Serb Republic, said it signed a 50-year concession contract with the entity's energy ministry for the construction and operation of a 72.9 MW solar power plant in Trebinje.

The Trebinje 1 photovoltaic (PV) plant, worth 100.75 million marka ($60.7 million/51.5 million euro), is expected to produce some 100 GWh of electricity per year, ERS said in a press release on Monday.

The power plant will spread on 120 hectares and should be commissioned in 2022.

Part of the revenue from the operation of the PV plant will be used for the payment of the concession fee, of which 500,000 marka will be allocated to the Trebinje city budget, the Serb Republic energy minister Petar Djokic said in the press release.

ERS will pay a concession fee of 0.0055 marka per kWh of electricity produced, the Serb Republic government said earlier this month.

According to ERS CEO, Luka Petrovic, the company expects to receive the building permit in the next six months.

The Serb Republic is one of two autonomous entities forming Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Federation.
