The government of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Serb Republic said it will support the installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems on private buildings with a total capacity of 250 MW.

The entity's government has adopted a programme for the installation of 50,000 small solar power plants on private residential and commercial buildings, it said in a statement last week.

The Serb Republic's power utility Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske (ERS) will operate the PV plants and provide the initial financial resources for the project. The company will launch a public call for interested households and business entities in the entity in the coming period.

The Serb Republic is one of two autonomous entities forming Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Federation.
