Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTBosnia's Serb Republic plans to increase the installed capacity of the future hydro power plant (HPP) Buk Bijela from 93.5 MW to some 120 -125 MW, the energy ministry said.
The entity will shortly issue a public call for the construction of this major HPP on the upper course of the Drina River, the energy ministry said in a statement quoting minister Petar Djokic.
Earlier this month, state-controlled power utility Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske (ERS) and its hydropower complex Hidroelektrane na Drini established a joint venture to manage the production and sale of electricity generated by HPP Buk Bijela.
Hidroelektrane na Drini owns an 80% stake in the new company Buk Bijela HPP, while ERS controls 20%.
ERS has been granted a 50 year concession on the future power plant, which will be Bosnia's largest in terms of installed capacity, reservoir size and mean outputs.
The Serb Republic is one of two entities that make up Bosnia and Herzegovina, the other is the Federation.
