BP Plc (LON:BP) has named Andres Guevara de la Vega as the new president for the group's Brazilian business, the oil and gas major said today.

Presently, Guevara serves as chairman of the board of directors of bp Bunge Bioenergia, a Brazilian biofuels joint venture (JV) between BP and US grain trader Bunge Global SA (NYSE:BG).

In June, the British company announced it struck a deal to take full ownership of the biofuels JV for about USD 1.4 billion (EUR 1.26bn). This transaction is still awaiting regulatory clearance, according to the latest announcement.

The new president also has a non-executive director role on the board of Pan American Energy, one of Argentina's leading energy companies.

Prior to this new appointment, Guevara held the position of president of bp Spain and was replaced by Olvido Moraleda in July 2024.
