Brakel buys Belgian Argina Technics, strengthens fire safety division

Belgian private equity firm Gimv (EBR:GIMB) said on Tuesday its majority-owned Dutch unit Brakel has acquired Argina Technics, a Belgian designer and producer of fire detection, gas detection and access control systems for the business market.

Brakel specialises in glass daylight constructions, ventilation and fire safety solutions. With the current acquisition, which is in line with Brakel's international growth plans, the company is strengthening its fire safety division, particularly in the area of fire detection and service and maintenance in the Benelux.

Founded in 1980 and based in Sint-Niklaas, Argina Technics also sells camera security and alarm systems.The company will now be managed by Koen De Maeght, managing director of Brakel Aero Belgium.

Brakel and Argina Technics generate combined revenue in excess of EUR 70 million (USD 77.4m) with about 350 employees.
