Brazil adds 22-MW Carnauba I wind plan to incentive regime

Sep 24, 2014 - The Brazilian energy ministry decided to include the EOL Carnauba I wind power plant, of 22 MW capacity, in the government's Incentive Regime for Infrastructure Development (REIDI).

The decree published in the State Gazette on Tuesday. REIDI, launched in 2007, grants tax incentives to companies investing in infrastructure projects in the transportation, ports, energy, sanitation and irrigation sectors.

EOL Carnauba I, located in northeastern Brazilian Rio Grande do Norte state, is owned by special purpose company Carnauba I Eolica SA, in which federal utility Furnas holds 49% stake. Furnas and its partners won the wind farm concession in the Brazilian government's power auction held in August 2013.
