Brazil connects to grid 880 MW of renewables in March Solar PV plant in Brazil

Brazil put into operation 880.27 MW of wind, solar and hydropower generation capacity in March 2023, power sector regulator Aneel announced on Friday.

Solar farms represent the largest portion, accounting for 544.22 MW of the capacity connected to the grid last month, while wind and hydro parks contributed 316.30 MW and 19.75 MW, respectively.

In addition to renewable sources, Brazil deployed an additional 26 MW into its grid from thermal plants, bringing the total connected capacity for the month to 906.27 MW.

Overall, 2.6 GW of power-generating capacity was added to the national grid in the first three months of the year. On April 10, the country achieved 201,108.7 MW of authorised power. As much as 84.41% of the total is produced from renewable sources, the agency noted.
