Brazil declares 30-MW wind farm priority project

Sep 17, 2014 - Brazil's energy ministry has approved as a priority project the EOL Ventos de Santa Joana II wind farm with a 30-MW capacity, according to a decree published yesterday.

The approval means that the company owning the project will benefit from certain tax incentives.

The EOL Ventos de Santa Joana II wind farm is located in the Caldeirao Grande municipality. It will have 15 wind turbines of 2 MW each. The park received approval to operate as an independent power producer (IPP) in February 2014.

The project company Ventos de Santa Joana II Energias Renovaveis has as shareholders Contour Global, Chesf and the investment fund Salus.

In August, the energy ministry agreed to list the Santa Joana XIII, XV and XVI schemes, three wind power projects of 30 MW each, under the Incentive Regime for Infrastructure Development REIDI.
