Brazil’s BNDES grants USD 87m to new biomass-fired power project
Nov 11, 2024 14:37 CESTJul 15, 2013 - Brazil's ethanol consumption jumped by 24% year-on-year to 556.642 million litres (122.4m gallons) in June 2013, data of the national union of fuel distributors Sindicom showed.
The rise was attributed to the larger sugar cane crop and the alleviation of PIS/Confins welfare tax burden on ethanol, which makes the product more affordable for the final consumer, Sindicom explained.
In the first half of 2013, Sindicom's members, which account for 60% of Brazil' ethanol market, sold 3.141 billion litres of ethanol, up 16.1% in annual terms.
