Brazil’s BNDES grants USD 87m to new biomass-fired power project
Nov 11, 2024 14:37 CEST(ADPnews) - May 14, 2010 - Ethanol consumption in Brazil has started rising again, data of Brazil's National Petroleum Agency ANP showed yesterday.
In March, the demand for the biofuel grew 30% in annual terms, after falling 25% in January and 17% in February, on the back of the increased price.
According to ANP director Alan Kardec Dualibe, next month ethanol consumption will return to the end-2009 levels.
"The ethanol price has improved but I do not think it will reach the level before the rise at the beginning of the year," the executive noted.
According to a study of ANP, the ethanol price in fuel stations is currently BRL 1.641 (USD 0.9/EUR 0.7) per litre on average.
In Sao Paulo, the average price was BRL 1.393 per litre last week, marking a 4.5% week-on-week fall.
