Brazil fuel sales rise 3.6% Y/Y in 2009

(ADPnews) - May 14, 2010 - The fuel sales in Brazil rose 3.6% year-on-year to BRL 179 billion (USD 100.813bn/EUR 80.822bn) in 2009, data of Brazil's National Fuel Retail Federation (Fecombustiveis) showed yesterday.
In terms of volume, the sales grew 5.4% to 67 billion litres (17.7bn gallons).
The sales of ethanol increased by 23.9% to 16.5 billion litres while those of petrol (gasoline) rose only 0.9%, to 25.4 billion litres.
The consumption of diesel oil inched up by a modest 0.2%, impacted by the effects of the financial crisis.
The sales of vehicular natural gas dropped 10% to 5.7 million cu m (201.3m cu ft) per day.
