Brazil's Piaui govt clears operations for 300-MW wind park
Sep 12, 2024 9:29 CESTSep 17, 2014 - Brazilian electricity sector watchdog Aneel on Monday gave the green light for test operations of Unit 37, with a capacity of 75 MW, at the 3.75-GW Jirau hydropower plant (HPP) in Rondonia state.
A week ago Aneel cleared the commercial operation of Unit 38 of the same facility, which is being built by the consortium Energia Sustentavel do Brasil as part of the Rio Madeira complex, which also includes the 3.5-GW Santo Antonio HPP. The tie-up behind the Jirau scheme includes French firm GDF Suez (EPA:GSZ), Brazilian Eletrosul and Chesf and a subsidiary of Japanese group Mitsui & Co (TYO:8031).
Aneel also cleared test operations for several wind power farms in the Ceara state. These include units UG1 and UG13 of EOL Sao Cristovao totalling 26 MW; the UG1 and UG12 units of EOL Sao Jorge, totalling 24 MW; and the UG1 and UG7 of EOL Santo Antonio de Padua, totalling 14 MW.
