Brazil added 570.8 MW of wind, solar and hydropower capacity in August, the nation's power sector regulator Aneel said earlier this week.

Wind farms represent the largest portion, accounting for 349.50 MW of the capacity connected to the grid last month. Solar and hydropower plants contributed 205.50 MW and 15.8 MW, respectively.

During the first eight months of the year, Brazil's electricity system grew by 7,096.55 MW of new capacity across different technologies.

On September 3, Brazil had a total of 204,844.1 MW of installed power generation capacity. As much as 84.78% of the total is produced from renewable energy, the agency noted.
