Brazil's Piaui govt clears operations for 300-MW wind park
Sep 12, 2024 9:29 CEST(SeeNews) – Sep 17, 2014 - Brazil's electricity sector watchdog Aneel gave the green light yesterday for the commercial operation of the wind farms Caetite 2 and 3, of 30 MW each, built by Spanish power utility Iberdrola (BME:IBE) and a partner.
The two plants have 30 days to start commercial operations.
Caetite 2 and 3 are located in Caetite municipality, in the northeastern Bahia state. Iberdrola and Brazilian sector player Neoenergia finished the construction of the the two farms in March 2013. They are equipped with 30 pieces of G90 turbines made by Spanish firm Gamesa (MCE:GAM).
Iberdrola has launched a total 187 MW of wind energy capacity in Brazil since 2006 in 11 different parks. As for the next two years, the Spanish company is expected to install 84 MW more, worth some USD 200 million (EUR 154.4m).
