Brazil's Piaui govt clears operations for 300-MW wind park
Sep 12, 2024 9:29 CEST(SeeNews) – Sep 16, 2014 - Brazil's wind power generation reached 1,594 average megawatt (MWa) in July 2014, up 154.1% year-on-year, data from the monthly report of the country’s energy clearing house CCEE showed.
Compared to June 2014, the wind output is up by 29.8%.
Overall, wind farms accounted for 2.75% of the total electricity generated on the Brazil's electricity interconnected system SIN in the period. The total generation reached 59,615 MWa.
Brazil's hydropower plants (HPPs), on the other hand, generated 39,218 MWa in July 2014, 65.8% of the country's total. The hydropower output grew by 0.3% month-on-month, but fell by 10.8% year-on-year.
Oil- and biodiesel-fired thermal power plants, in turn, produced a total 2,601 MWa, up 368.8% on the year.
