Brazil's Piaui govt clears operations for 300-MW wind park
Sep 12, 2024 9:29 CESTMar 15, 2013 - Installed wind power capacity in Brazil has already reached 2,583.8 MW, divided among a total 111 wind farms, according to the first edition of a monthly bulletin of Brazil's wind power generation association ABEEolica.
The bulk of the wind facilities are located in the country's Northeast and Southeast, the bulletin showed.
Northeastern Rio Grande do Norte is the state with the greatest operational wind capacity at present -- 727.2 MW, divided among 25 parks.
According to ABEEolica's data, 130 wind power ventures with combined capacity of 3,497.3 MW are currently being built in Brazil. Of those, 44 units with total 1,171.4 MW capacity are underway in Rio Grande do Norte.
Other 2,721.1 MW scattered into 105 new wind undertakings have already been awarded and are awaiting the start of their construction, the bulletin also revealed.
