Brazil's Aneel registers request for 6-MW EOL Canjoao wind plant

Mar 28, 2014 - Brazilian electricity sector regulator Aneel received a registration request for the 6-MW wind power plant EOLCanjoao and its adjacent transmission system.

According to a decree published in the State Gazette yesterday, the plant is located in the Igapora municipality, northeastern Bahia state. The facility is owned by local firm Centrais Eolicas Itapua II Ltda.

Aneel ruled that the plant's owner will operate the facility as an independent power producer (IPP), enabling it to sell the plant's surplus energy and distribute energy to large consumers, paying concessionaires for the use of transmission lines.
