Brazilian utility Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais SA (BVMF:CMIG3), better known as Cemig, has signed an agreement to supply a 20-MW portion of a solar park it is building in Brazil's Minas Gerais state to local supermarket wholesaler Mart Minas.

According to the local government, the utility will supply clean energy under Brazil’s free market and self-production model from its BRL-377-million (USD 75.6m/EUR 69.1m) Jusante photovoltaic (PV) park in Minas Gerais.

The output will power 62 Mart Minas stores in Minas Gerais and 19 Dom Atacadista stores, a brand belonging to the group and located in Rio de Janeiro. With this agreement, the duo will become the first supermarket customers to operate under the self-production of electricity regime.
