BP Bunge chairman becomes president of BP in Brazil
Sep 09, 2024 14:06 CESTMar 28, 2014 - The hydrous ethanol sales of mills in Brazil's Centre-South fell by 2.85% year-on-year to 465.666 million litres (102.4m gallons) between March 1 and 16, 2014, according to data of the Brazilian sugarcane industry association (Unica) released yesterday.
Traders, however, affirm that the sales will recover in the second half of the month, since the decline in the first 15 days was a result of the fewer working days.
Hydrous ethanol sales accumulated an 12.2% annual rise to 14.1 billion litres since the beginning of the crop year in April 2013, Unica outlined. The association noted that the more attractive prices of hydrous ethanol at Brazilian filling stations since the first half of 2013 have been pushing the sales.
Despite the fall of the hydrous ethanol sales in the first half of March, the overall ethanol sales, anhydrous ethanol including, rose by 10.6% year-on-year to 874.648 million litres. Sales of anhydrous ethanol, which is blended with petrol (gasoline), jumped by 31% to 408.9 million litres, between March 1 and 16. The total ethanol sales since the beginning of the crop year in April 2013 saw a 15% annual rise to 24.5 billion litres, Unica added.
