Brazil's Elera to supply 48 MW of solar power to sanitation co BRK Solar PV plant in Brazil

Brazilian renewable energy company Elera Renovaveis announced recently it will supply 48 MW from the output generated by the 1.2-GWp Janauba solar complex to power the operations of sanitation company BRK.

Under the terms of the deal, Elera will deliver electricity in the period 2025-2039. The volume corresponds to 119,533 MWh per year, enough to supply around 57,000 homes annually.

This agreement follows the model of self-production by equivalence, where BRK becomes a shareholder in the Janauba solar complex and obtains authorisation to produce energy exclusively for its own use.

Elera, part of Brookfield Asset Management Inc, has also previously inked a similar deal with another Brazilian sanitation company. The 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Igua Saneamento concerns a 50-MW portion of the Janauba complex, the company noted.
