Brazilian power distributor Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (BVMF:ELET6), or Eletrobras, has signed two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) tied to the production of renewable energy and green hydrogen with the government of Ceara state and with European company Green Energy Park (GEP).

Specifically, the pact with Ceara envisages the development of projects at the Pecem Industrial and Port Complex (CIPP) for energy transition, decarbonisation of the local economy and promotion of low-carbon hydrogen as well as its derivatives such as green ammonia, the parties announced on Tuesday.

Under this MoU, Eletrobras will supply renewable energy and green hydrogen to future industrial projects in Ceara and search for solutions to improve the flow of electricity.

The partnership between Eletrobras and GEP will follow a similar module, aiming to contribute to the production of green hydrogen and derivatives at competitive prices. The collaboration will combine resources of more than 10 GW, available for renewable hydrogen production at Eletrobras and a unique production platform designed and implemented by GEP.

The Ceara government has already signed 37 MoUs and six pre-contracts related to green hydrogen production.
