Brazilian power distributor Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (BVMF:ELET6), better known as Eletrobras, has been given the go-ahead to put into commercial operation nine more wind turbines from the 302.4-MW Coxilha Negra wind park.

With the approval by power sector regulator Aneel, Coxilha Negra now has 23 wind turbines in operation, Eletrobras announced this week.

Located in the municipality of SantAna do Livramento, Rio Grande do Sul state, Coxilha Negra will require an investment of BRL more than BRL 2 billion (USD 367.1m/EUR 333.1m). The facility will feature three wind parks in total – the 100.8-MW Coxilha Negra 02, the 105-MW Coxilha Negra 03 and the 96.6-MW Coxilha Negra 04.

Currently, the overall park has 46 installed wind turbines, of which 23 are operational in Coxilha Negra 02 and 15 are under test operations in Coxilha Negra 03. The utility is also moving ahead with verticalisation work on the first towers of Coxilha Negra 04.
