Brazil's power watchdog clears tests of 7.5 MW at Coqueiros wind farm

Sep 25, 2014 - Brazilian electricity sector regulator Aneel cleared the start-up of test operation of five turbines, each of 1.5 MW capacity, at the Coqueiros wind power plant as of Wednesday.

According to a decree published in the Official Gazette, the authorisation is valid for turbines five to 10 at the farm, located in Aracau municipality, in the northeastern state of Ceara. Coqueiros is a project of local renewable energy developer Energimp.

Aneel will decide whether to clear the five turbines' commercial operation only after the completion of the test phase.

Energimp is a subsidiary of Argentine engineering firm Industrias Metalurgicas Pescarmona (Impsa).
