Brazilian renewable power company Raizen Power will supply 54 MWh of solar and biomass energy to several units of domestic independent consortium administrators Embracon.

The subsidiary of sugar exporter and cellulosic ethanol producer Raizen SA (BVMF:RAIZ4) announced on Thursday that the distributed generation (DG) contract will cover nine states.

Specifically, the DG solution signed by Embracon works similarly to a consortium between the company and power plants managed by Raizen Power. Embracon will become part of the renewable energy assets, making the locations self-generators, with distribution being carried out by the local distributor.

Raizen Power said the partnership also includes the issue of global I-RECS certificates and should be able to offset some 190 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year. At present, the renewable energy company manages more than 50 solar and biomass-fired plants, it noted.
