Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul plans 400 MW wind project Brazil wind

Brazil’s Rio Grande do Sul state government has signed a protocol of intent with Vestas Development and local renewable energy company Renobrax for the development of a 400.5 MW wind power complex.

Named Tres Divisas, the renewable energy asset has the potential to attract around BRL 3 billion in investments, according to a preliminary analysis, the state government announced on Monday.

Under the two-year agreement, Rio Grande do Sul commits to assisting with public body requests, streamlining administrative processes, and facilitating the issuance of necessary authorisations for project implementation.

Vestas Development and Renobras will be in charge of the technical conceptualisation and detailed planning of the wind complex, including commercial viability, attracting investors, and dealing with construction.

Tres Divisisa will be located in the municipalities of Uruguaiana, Alegrete and Quarai, with the possibility of expanding to other cities in the region.

Once the first phase has been finalised, the project will move on to the feasibility and resource allocation stage, the state government noted.
