Brazil's Superintendency for the Development of the Northeast (Sudene) has authorised BRL 267.2 million (USD 48.6m/EUR 43.5m) of financing for 164 MW of solar and wind energy projects in the country's Northeast region.

The Brazilian governmental agency said on Monday the grant comes from Sudene's northeast development fund, also known as FDNE. Specifically, one wind and three solar projects are the beneficiaries of the disbursement.

Spanish Elawan Energy is in charge of the sole wind scheme, a 52-MW wind park to be installed in the municipality of Santana dos Matos, Rio Grande do Norte state.

The three solar projects include the 41.8-MW Monte Verde Solar II and the 40.2-MW Monte Verde Solar III from EDP Renovaveis do Brasil, and the 30-MW UFV Serita II, part of Elecnor's Solar Serrita solar complex. This last one is the only scheme to be located outside of Rio Grande do Norte, in Pernambuco, Sudene noted.
