Evren, an Indian clean energy platform promoted by Brookfield and Axis Energy, has pledged to invest USD 5 billion (EUR 4.47bn) to deploy 9 GW of renewable power generation capacity in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

The company’s plan envisages investment in 3.5 GW of solar and 5.5 GW of wind projects, which will be executed in phases, Axis Energy said on Friday. The commitment was made during an official meeting with the government of Andhra Pradesh.

The proposed projects are expected to propel Andhra Pradesh’s economic growth and promote investment in clean energy initiatives, Axis said. According to an official statement cited by local media, around 3 GW of the overall schemes have been grounded and are scheduled to enter commercial operations by the end of 2026.

Evren, which is 51%-controlled by Brookfield, has a goal of installing more than 6 GW of renewable power plants over the next two-three years, targeting the most resource-rich states in its home country.
