Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTItaly-based renewable energy company Building Energy has cut the ribbon on its 10-MWp Tororo solar power plant in Uganda.
The company developed the project and was also responsible for its construction and commissioning. With annual generation of about 16 GWh, the facility will cater to the energy needs of 35,838 people, Building Energy said today.
The solar power plant was developed under the Global Energy Transfer Feed in Tariff (GET FiT) support scheme for renewable energy projects, which is managed by Germany's KfW Development Bank in partnership with Uganda's government. It is funded by the EU-Africa Infrastructure Trust Fund, the governments of Norway, Germany and the UK.
The investment in construction of the solar farm was USD 19.6 million (EUR 16.6m). FMO, the Dutch development bank, coordinated the provision of a USD-14.7-million term loan facility, while the project shareholders provided USD 4.9 million.
