Bulgaria's NEK opens tender for new turbines at pumped storage plant
Sep 18, 2024 13:50 CESTSOFIA (Bulgaria), December 13 (SeeNews) – Bulgaria plans to call tenders for the construction of a wind park and a solar park next year, local media reported on Monday.
"The parks will have capacity of up to 50 megawatts (MW) each and will be located on sites with an existing power grid," Sofia-based business daily Dnevnik quoted the CEO of state-owned power grid operator NEK, Krasimir Parvanov, as saying.
According to Parvanov, NEK will refuse to connect renewable energy sources to the grid until July of next year at least due to the grid's insufficient capacity and NEK's shortage of funds.
NEK plans to invest 80 million levs ($54.1 million/40.9 million euro) in the power grid in 2011 under its 150 million lev investment programme for next year.
