US renewable, environmental and thermal energy technologies provider Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises Inc (NYSE:BW), or B&W, has won more than USD 20 million (EUR 18.1m) worth of contracts to build 25 MW of community solar projects in Illinois.

The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) orders were awarded by commercial solar company Summit Ridge Energy (SRE), with which B&W has already partnered on USD 35 million of similar projects since 2022.

The new contracts, to be executed by B&W’s subsidiary Babcock & Wilcox Solar Energy Inc, envisage the construction of six solar sites. Completion is anticipated in 2024.

Akron, Ohio-based B&W has already installed more than 100 solar projects.

SRE has a portfolio of more than 250 MW across the US. Last month, the company announced joint venture deals with Osaka Gas USA Corporation (OGUSA) to build, own and operate more than 100 MW of solar projects across Virginia and 8 MW of energy storage systems in New York.
