CABEI to fund study for 487-KW PV project in Nicaragua

Jul 14, 2014 - The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) on Friday signed a cooperation agreement with Nicaraguan agribusiness firm Mangosa to finance feasibility studies for a 487-KW photovoltaic (PV) plant in Leon department.

Mangosa will install the system for self-supply with a possible surplus for the power network.

The bank agreed to extend USD 49,500 (EUR 36,300) as part of its collaboration with German development bank KfW and the European Union's Latin America Investment Facility (LAIF), CABEI's manager for Nicaragua, Edda Melendez, said.

With a total USD 44.5 million, the entities support energy efficiency and renewable energy at small and medium-sized enterprises in Central America.
