Global private asset manager Capital Dynamics has obtained a EUR-185-million (EUR 199.1m) loan, completing the project financing for two agrivoltaic sites currently under construction in Italy with a combined capacity of 187 MW.

The funds were arranged with Natixis Corporate and Investment Banking (Natixis CIB), Capital Dynamics said in a press statement today.

Located in Sicily, the two sites are described as two of the largest subsidy-free agrivoltaic projects in the country. Olive groves will be planted adjacent to the solar plants, while prickly pears will be cultivated between the trackers, in addition to beekeeping initiatives.

When completed, the two solar farms will produce about 324 GWh of clean energy annually, an amount equivalent to powering more than 63,500 homes.

The two sites, acquired in October 2023, will expand Capital Dynamics’ gross annual generation capacity across Italy to about 1 TWh per year.
