Clime Capital to invest up to USD 10m in Philippine solar firm UGEP
Sep 11, 2024 14:25 CESTFeb 14, 2012 - US microturbine energy system maker Capstone Turbine Corp (NASDAQ:CPST) today unveiled an order to supply its C800 microturbine for a biogas power project in the Philippines, developed by Biotech Farms Inc.
The contract, won by the company's distributor for the region Sobono Energy, comes to further grow Capstone's foothold on the Asia Pacific market, it said. Sobono is to supply the unit and commission it this spring.
Biotech Farms is turning animal waste into biogas via an anaerobic digestion facility at its farm in Banga, South Cotabato. That biogas will fuel the Capstone C800 turbine to produce on-site electricity, which will in turn power the feeding facilities, ventilation fans, water pumps and lighting at the farm. The project is in line with Biotech Farms' strategy to cut its carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide and methane gas emissions.
"We have plans to significantly grow our operations, and the C800 will allow us to smartly use the animal waste to our advantage," said Biotech Farms COO Faustino Cordura.
